Ozone in Wineries

Ozone has many uses in a winery.

  • Storage tanks rinsed using ozonated water will have a significant reduction of organisms on the internal tank surfaces and fittings. Often this replaces the need to use caustic products.
  • Clean In Place pipework free from organic material can be sanitised by the use of ozonated water instead of Sodium Hydroxide or as a supplement to the use of Sodium Hydroxide.
  • Ozone will sanitise bottling equipment simply and without the use of chemicals.
  • In barrels, the use of ozonated water as a rinse after hot water, or on its own for those who cold rinse only, will reduce or eliminate bacteria and yeasts including Brettanomyces.
