Ozone in Rural Water Supplies

In rural Australia drinking water is obtained from tanks fed by rainwater, river water or from a bore. This water often contains impurities and bacteria which can be treated effectively using ozone as part of the treatment process.

Ozone will kill the bacteria present in the water and reduce the incidence of water borne illness. It will remove dissolved organics in the form of tannins. When used in partnership with appropriate filters, it will remove iron and manganese by precipitating the minerals and allowing the automatic backwash filters to remove them.
